FVHS Reunion website is up for registration

The FVHS Reunion website is up for registration - http://www.thefinalwave.com
Check it out & register.

Please send your FVHS memory pictures to Monisa (mon6452@aol.com) for posting to the reunion website.

We need a class representative from each alumni class to contact Monisa if they have not already been in touch about the Oct 2nd Alumni Day.

We would like for class representatives to attend the July 17 meeting at Georgia Bob's at 11 AM, to be brought up to date on the Reunion and to give us direction in reaching out to their classmates.
Saturday October 2nd Events location has changed from the Practice Field to the front campus (under the oaks).
Class pictures (each individual class & one massive Alumni Pic) will be taken on the steps of the school beginning at 1:00.

Not Growing Old Gracefully

Many thanks to Monisa for taking and sharing these pictures! As I viewed them, I was saddened by the look of decay that has overtaken our Alma Mater. Quickly I realized that our old stompin' ground is so very similar to my creaky old body - it just ain't what it used to be. This place that birthed so many fantastic memories for my life doesn't seem to be birthing any new memories for anyone else these days. What a shame! But, unlike this building that has grown weaker through the years, our relationships could grow stronger - if we just decide to make it so.

Let's have one helluva reunion - it's up to us!

Thanks to all of those who have worked so diligently to bring this reunion to reality.

Thanks again Monisa!

Memory Lane – the Plan is Coming Together

Monisa and Patty spent most of Monday with Jimmy Jones in Ft Valley and toured FVHS. It is looking great for having our Reunion in the Gym. There are so many great ideas in the making, I know we are going to come away from our March 13th meeting with an outline for an incredible 40th (Class of 1970), 41st (Class of 1969), and Alumni Mixer.

Ricky Vining was a wealth of information regarding facilities and catering in the area. James Khoury gave a tour of the Renovated Theatre.

We are planning some working time to organize the trophy case, prior to the Reunion.

If anyone has footage of football games, parades, basketball games, any events; please let us know! We have an idea for using this at the Reunion.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Mark your calendars ...Friday Oct 1 & Sat Oct 2, 2010 in or near Ft Valley...40th Reunion ... We are in the beginning stages of planning and need your thoughts and involvment. Bobbi Jones Googe is the Point Person for collecting addresses and other contact information for members of our class and alumni. Please send her any information you may have. Bobbi is on FB and Classmates. Our next planning meeting is scheduled for March 13th ...Leslie has graciously offered to host our planning meeting at her home on Lake Jackson and even feed us!
We would love to have you join us!!!!!

Moving Forward

After several conversations with folks, here is what we have discovered.

Thanks everyone, we’ve had good success renewing contact with classmates through email, Facebook, and the FVHS 1970 Blog. The overwhelming choice for our reunion location is the mountains of north Georgia and the timeframe preferred is a weekend in April, May, June 2010.

What next?

Form our planning committee. We have some volunteers and if you are also willing to help on this committee or be a sponsor please let me know.

More Email Tuesday Sept. 15

George,

Today I added comments from 7 folks to the blog. We now have 14 class members on facebook and have also received contact updates for 3 more addresses/emails to go along with a few from last week.

Have you heard from Scott, Chip, Jeff or Richard?

Thanks,

Charlie

From George: Thanks for the email Charlie - hmmm! I wonder where those boys are and why they haven't responded or replied. Should we send out an APB? Somebody find these guys - there's nowhere to hide!!!!!

_____________

We will be retiring to Spartanburg, SC this fall, effective date around Oct 1st. My email will remain same. New address will be:
Sidney L. Rhode
133 Turnstone Lane
Spartanburg, SC 29301

(took me a second to recognize this one - it's Lorraine Kitchens! Man that girl could sing. Lorraine, have you recorded and album since we last saw you?)

George,
The e-mail address for Brasstown Bald is www.brasstownvalley.com. There are plenty of accommodations for all who want to attend and they handle events. It seems that there are enough activities to keep us occupied, also. I checked out Savannah too, and one of the more promising locations there is www.savannah.hyatt.com. That is right on the river with beautiful views. I'm cool with the mountains, though, especially if we decide on September.
Thanks,
Patty
